Ultrasonic level difference meter (ultrasonic level difference meter) is used to measure the difference between the level or material level of two different containers. The most common is to measure the water level before and after the coarse grille and the fine grille at the water inlet of the sewage treatment plant, and calculate the height of the water level difference to start the anti-fishing decontamination machine to remove the garbage. It is also installed before and after the gate, and the water level difference before and after the gate is measured to determine the opening time. Some do not measure the liquid level difference, but measure the height of the water level of the two pools, and then output 2 channels of 4-20mA. This is called a "dual channel level gauge".

Wiring method:

Grounding: first make sure the grounding terminal of the meter is actually grounded and the meter does not share ground terminal with other equipment and then connect terminal 4.

Transducer: red line: connected to Trans_n transducer n; blue line: Temp n + temperature sensor +

        Black wire: GND (ground wire)

        For single probe, n =1; for double probes, n = 1,2

Current: current + connected to mA n+; current - connected to mA n- /GND

        For single probe, n =1; for double probes, n = 1,2

Relay: RLlnA and RLnB are normally open; RLnA and RLnC are normally closed

           For single probe, n =1.2; for double probes, n= 1,2,3,4

Power line: AC: connected to L and N

        DC: 24V connected to 24VDC+; GND connected to 24V DC-


Relay 1 is used for probe 1 alarm, relay 2 is used for probe 2 alarm, relay 3 and relay 4 are used for difference value alarm.

Installation Guide

Ultrasonic level meter (for material and liquid level measurement) is a non-contact highly reliable and cost-effective material level measuring instrument which is easily installed and maintained. It can meet most of the material level measurement requirements without touching the medium. It is a new generation ultrasonic level meter with fully independent property rights developed by the company via years of hard work.


Mechanical Size:


Before the installation, please make it clear in your mind about the below terminology:

a.Launch angle and false echoes: The ultrasonic wave speed is focused by the probe, and the pulse wave speed is emitted just like the speed of light of a flashlight. The farther away from the probe, the larger the diffusion area.


Any objects within the launch angle: such as pipes, brackets, welds, stiffeners, stirring propellers, and objects hanging on the wall, will cause strong false echoes, especially objects that are closer to the probe within the launch angle.


Example: A false echo from a pipe 6 meters from the probe is 9 times stronger than the false echo from the same pipe 18 meters from the probe.


★ Try to make the axis of the sensor perpendicular to the surface of the medium, and avoid any other objects within the launch angle. Such as: pipes and brackets, etc.


b. Measurement range selection : Measurement range depends on the range of ultrasonic probe. The range of ultrasonic probe depends on the working environment, measured target, temperature and so on.


A. Host installation:

The host has two installation methods: embedded and wall-mounted.

 (1) The external dimension of the host is 1 80mm*160mm*76mm, as shown in the figure:

The product design has four quick wall mounting holes, just fix the screws according to the wall point,

Then hang the product. The wall-hanging hole distance is 167mm*105mm



B. probe Installation:





Container environment installation :

When the ultrasonic level gauge is used to measure the depth of the liquid level in the container, the correct installation position should be selected according to the shape of the container.

Then it produces: secondary echo, which affects the measurement accuracy. Such problems are mainly concentrated on the top of the conical and spherical tanks.


The installation position is required to be selected at 1/3/ of the radius, as shown in the figure:



Open environment installation : 

Ultrasonic sensors generate ultrasonic pulse waves and detect echoes at the same time, the ultrasonic pulse waves from the surface of the probe with a certain cone spread out. Therefore, the following aspects should be paid attention to when choosing the installation position of the ultrasonic sensor:

① There should be no obstruction in the measurement range.

② Keep away from the feed inlet.

③The position where there are obstacles between the ultrasonic emitting surface and the measuring medium. as the picture shows:

④The installation of the probe should avoid keeping the sound wave channel emitted from it and the container wall in an ideal area. If the installation distance is less than the distance specified by the downline of the ideal area, the probe should be installed within the "minimum spacing" area. If the installation distance from the side wall is still below the "minimum spacing" line, the transmitter may not be able to measure the level correctly, as shown in the figure:





Solid material measurement :

When measuring solid materials, the installation method for solid materials measurement requires the probe to be typically installed at the distance from the side wall 1/3 of the container wall to the center inlet. When the material accumulates, a cone is formed. The probe installation position shown in the figure below will give an average level reading, which is the level of the material when the material is flat. This is correct for conical accumulation or concave accumulation surface during discharge.

The average height measured by this installation is only true for cylindrical containers and the inlet is at the center line of the container. For containers of other shapes or where the feed 

port is not in the middle position, the installation of the probe should be in accordance with the user's requirements and should be meet the aforementioned requirements. as the picture shows:






Installation interface and still-pipe needed installation:

For liquids with a calm surface and no waves, ultrasonic measurement will achieve the best results. If there are debris, bubbles or large fluctuations on the liquid surface, a still wave tube should be installed. The waveguide can choose PVC, PP and other plastic pipes, smooth inside, inner diameter> 60MM, the length should be below the lowest liquid level (if the measurement distance is long, the inner diameter of the waveguide should be increased as much as possible), and the front end should be cut to 45 °Bevel, the port is neat and without burrs, as shown in the figure:
